The Significance of Berlin Wall

Image
Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on what part of the world this blog may find you.  I am on a train towards Heidelberg, which is located south of Germany and it is 7:19am.  I plan on arriving Heidelberg in 6 hours.  I spent little over 2 days in Berlin and one day in Potsdam.  The stay was awesome and I learnt so much. The Wall fell in 1989 reuniting the two halves of the city that had stayed separated for decades. What remains now are the last vestiges of the infamous fortification and memories of those who died attempting to cross it. What can I tell you about Germany?  Well I am still in German ground and I plan to stay for two more days in Heidelberg and Baden Baden. I think the only thing I would ask the Germans to do is to smile a bit more.  I have traveled to Europe before and this trip counts as my fourth time stopping by Europe.  Germany is one of the only European countries that I struggled the most finding my way around.  Nothing was translated to English

A Picture Can Speak a Thousand Words

Too many of the world’s children are out of school or receive spotty educations, each of which has dreams that may never be fulfilled or potential that may never be realized. By ensuring that every child has equal access to quality learning, we automatically lay the foundation for a healthy growth, transformation, innovation, opportunity and equality.  Whether in times of crisis or periods of peace, in cities or remote villages, we have to commit ourselves into realizing a fundamental and a non-negotiable goal: quality education for all.  Education is a fundamental human right: Every child is entitled to it. It is critical to our development as individuals and as societies, and it helps pave the way to a successful and productive future. When we ensure that children have access to a rights-based, quality education that is rooted in gender equality, we create a "ripple-effect" of opportunity that impacts many generations to come. Helping a child learn is equ

A Vibe: Meaning to Life I find that every week, every day, every hour I have less time, less minutes at my disposal. More and more I find that somewhere during all work and play I’ve lost sight of what is important. Where is the meaning in our lives? When did we stop trying to live meaningfully in the time allotted to us? I understand that the meaning in our lives does not live in the big things achieved; huge projects or enormous undertakings. Rather the meaning stands in plain sight of all the minutes between this one and the last one you'll ever see. Tomorrow is nothing, next year is even less. Meaning is in realizing that we can have 60 memorable moments in one average hour. Meaning is the time well used. Meaning is the conversion of time to goal successfully completed, to dreams realized, and to relationships cemented. Meaning is the time spent meaningfully not squandered.  When I find the world is taking from my enjoyment of the universe I fall back on some of these gr

8 Tips to a Healthy Diet!

Let's talk about the 8 most crucial components of your diet! 1. BERRIES! They are a great source of anti-oxidants and water-soluble vitamins. They are incredibly beneficial in the prevention of cancer and they help you to maintain your weight. As if it couldn't get any better---berries maintain the same benefits after being cooked. So go ahead; make that blueberry muffin you've been craving all week! 2. GO GREEN! Cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, and--I know, I know--but SPINACH! These greens, and almost any other green vegetables and fruits that you can think of, will be a great source of Iron for you! Women, you tend to have anemia (or the shortage of  Iron in your blood) more often than men. Let's help you out with that by incorporating  some great green snack breaks! 3. Oooo-MEGA ! Yes! Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Big words translating to one simple concept: FISH! If you're not a seafood fanatic, it's important to find a substitute that delivers the
