Hello my loyal blog readers.  There was quite of traffic in our way to massif today.  You know what that means?  Well it is March and people are already out picnicking and enjoying the beautiful spring here at my end.  Springs here in Kurdistan are a totally beauty.  I just love everything about it; the greenery, the wild flowers, the beautiful weather, the vegetables and fruits, the beautiful colors of fabrics that you see on ladies as you drive around picnic areas in Kurdistan.

I am here stuck in the traffic and all that runs in my head is the second I get on my blog to fill you guys in with these beautiful feelings. What caught my attention the most as we are waiting for the traffic to proceed was this super cute young boy carrying bunches of the famous Nergis flower in his hand. I wish you could see the beautiful smile on his face as soon as I chose to buy a few bunches of Nergis from him.  I offered to buy one more bunch to see the happiness on his face one more time.

Nergis is one of the special flowers that grow in Kurdistan.  When you smell it, you automatically feel hypnotized.  The smell is one of the kind and I am told that cologne industries are making perfumes that smell as heavenly as the flower Nergis.  Students have not resisted to gets me bunches of Nergis from Akre.  I am told the best ones you can ever have are the ones that grow in Akre.  As soon as a bunch of Nergis was welcomed into my office by my students, I knew Spring was indoor.

With Nergis, leaves grow upward, then droop out and down. I am not surprised to learn that Medieval Arabs used  the juice of Nergis to treat baldness. A bit of more history at you here, the origican of Nergis goes all the way back to the Greek Mythology, king Nergis or Narcissus in English.  Narcissus, per Greek mythology, was rather proud in his beauty. He was so immense in his beauty to the point he refused to leave the pool where he saw his own reflection in the water and automatically fell in love with it.

So just now I gather what parents have in mind when they choose to name their baby born daughter by the name Nergis.

Happy Spring to you all and stay beautiful
